|Comments:||With the prospect of a dry and sunny day we set off in high spirits, but making our way across farmland some of the group began to wonder when we were going to start any serious climbing. In marked contrast to last week's walk, today's route would take us up a gradual ascent, on grassy paths, onto Bampton Common and on to the northern section of the Roman Road which runs from Ambleside to Pooley Bridge. From here there were great views over to Helvellyn and the surrounding fells. An undulating path then traversed to Wether Hill and Loadpot Hill. After the steep(ish) descent from Loadpot Hill we headed across to Bonscale Pike which afforded great views over Ullswater as we ate our lunch. An undulating path then took us to Arthur's Pike from where we headed south-east to pick up a path over Helton Fell. The last rocky outcrop, known as Knotts, was too inviting to walk past so another stop was made before descending to the cars. A very enjoyable day was had by all.|
