|Walk:||Barrowford, Roughlee, White Hough, Barley, Black Moss Reservoirs, Blacko Foot and return along Pendle Water.|
|Start Point:||Pendle Heritage Centre||Grid Reference:||SD 683 398|
|Distance:||8.5 miles||Ascent:||1,100 feet|
|Weather:||Fine sunny morning, turning overcast for afternoon, but no rain.|
|Comments:||10 of us set off from the Heritage centre along the Pendle Way, passing West Pasture (very muddy), to cross the stepping-stones at Roughlee. We then went past Hollin Farm and Croft House, followed by a muddy climb up to the Hollin Top access road on the south side of Brown Hill, where we stopped to enjoy the morning sunshine and a coffee break. Continuing down past the Outdoor Centre at White Hough and Slacks Wood we walked on to Barley for a lunch stop, not so sunny now. From Barley we left the Pendle Way for the steady climb, relatively, past the Black Moss Reservoirs to the highest point at Mountain Farm. That is in name anyway, if not by nature! It was then mainly downhill over rather muddy fields with the ever present Blacko Hill and Tower in view, to Blacko Foot where we rejoined the Pendle Way. At Water Meetings (Blacko & Pendle) it was a good path along Pendle Water back to the Heritage Centre. A good day, muddy boots but still dry, and tea and cakes at the Centre tea shop for some.|
