Walk: Old Nell's, canal tow path, Duckett's Farm, River Brock, Bilsborrow Hall Farm
Start Point: Bilsborrow- Old Nell's Tavern Grid Reference: SD 509 395
Distance: 5 Miles Ascent: -
Time: 2.25 hrs
Weather: Cold and sunny with hail showers.
Comments: Only 13 walkers met at Old Nell's. The others must have heard the weather forecast! Alan hadn't even expected double figures! We set off northwards along the canal bank only to find an obstacle in our path. A tree had blown down in Saturday night's high winds and had fallen across the towpath and halfway across the canal. The canal was closed to shipping! The workmen helped us to clamber across the tree and our trusty backmarker, Peter, made sure that he hadn't lost anyone! The rest of the walk was uneventful apart from a few tricky stiles and some muddy gateways. We left the canal at Bridge 48 and headed across the railway and the Motorway towards Duckett's Farm and then on to New Bridge for a coffee break. We returned to Old Nell's alongside the River Brock, through Bilsborrow Hall Farm and then along the road. A pleasant walk and much better than we expected, having set off during a hail shower and into a biting cold wind!

Peter is wondering . . .

if he has joined a walk or an obstacle course!

Joan's choice of footwear reflects the expected conditions underfoot

A brief stop by the bridge - and more wellington boots can be seen . . .

but all too soon it is time to move on
