Walk: New Barnes Bay, Arnside Park, Far Arnside, Heathwaite, Arnside Knott, Red Hills
Start Point: Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Arnside Grid Reference: SD 456 789
Distance: 5.1 miles Ascent: 641 feet
Time: 2.5 hours
Weather: Sunny & quite warm
Comments: 20 people set off along the shore to New Barns Bay by which time most people were taking off jackets etc. as the sun was quite warm. Then it was on through part of a caravan site before turning off into the woods of Arnside Park where there were bluebells & lily of the valley to be seen. On reaching Far Arnside we turned north climbing through Heathwaite, which is part of the National land which includes Arnside Knott. Here were cowslips & orchids. On reaching the bridal path we skirted Arnside Knott to reach Red Hills where highland cattle were grazing in the distance. After more woodland we reached the edge of Arnside & returned to a good lunch.
