Start Point: Gorple Reservoir car park Grid Reference: SD 947 323
Distance: 14 miles Ascent: 2,000 feet
Time: 5.75 hours
Weather: A fine day with a cool breeze and good visibility.
Comments: Four walkers joined the leader for this walk and were rewarded with a fine day contrary to the weather forecast. The walk initially follows the Pennine Way passing the three Walshaw Dean reservoirs and Top Withins to Upper Heights farm. At this point it leaves the Pennine Way to descend into the valley of South Dean Beck. Crossing the Bronte Bridge the route follows the Bronte Way to Penistone Hill before joining the Haworth to Hebden Bridge Walk. Passing Lee Shaw reservoir we climb Stairs Lane to Top of Stairs. The route stays with the Hebden Bridge Walk to Nook where it turns west for Walshaw before dropping in to Hebden Dale. Following the higher path through Hebden Dale we reach Black Dean where we cross the Colne Road to join the path around Ridge Scout back to the start.
