Walk: Llanberis, Quarry Hospital, Padarn Country Park, Lake, Museum
Start Point: Llanberis Slate Museum Grid Reference:
Distance: 5.5 miles Ascent:
Weather: Mainly warm and sunny
Comments: There was 13 on the shorter walk which was 5.5 miles, as it was so hot some were hesitant about doing the harder walk.
We started out from Llanberis Slate museum and had a short steep ascent up to the Quarry hospital which is part of the museum.(It was built at the top of the quarry to avoid having to carry injured men down the hill). We then passed the hospital mortuary, we didn't linger to long here. Our walk then progressed through Padarn Country park which for the most part was under the shade of lots of trees, which was
most appreciated. We then descended back down to the lake where we stopped for lunch on a grassy field at the side of the lake. We then strolled back along the lake path and back to the museum where we had time to look around and have a much needed cup of tea in the cafe before the coach trip back. Every one said they had a great time.
