Walk: Silver How, Upper Easedale, Sergeant Man, High Raise, Greenup Edge, Calf Crag, Gibson Knott, Helm Crag
Start Point: Grasmere School Grid Reference: NY 338 073
Distance: 13 miles Ascent: 3,500 feet
Time: 7 hours
Weather: Overcast at first , windy on the tops with patchy mist on High Raise. Bright later with good visibility and dry all day.
Comments: 8 Walkers set out from Grasmere along Langdale oad via Red Bank to Silver How. From there we headed towards Easedale and our next summit Sergeant Man. We then crossed featureless landscape to High Raise and a slight deterioration in the weather with low cloud and mist. It quickly cleared and we descended from Greenup Edge steeply to Brownlees Tarn and the start of the ascent to Calf Crag and along the mile long undulating ridge, via Gibson Knott to Helm Crag, visibility excellent the whole way. The steep but well paved descent brought us back to Grasmere with not a drop of rain all day.
