Walk: Valley of the Beggars  (Lothersdale) via Pinhaw Beacon
Start Point: Lay-by above Elslack Moor Grid Reference: SD 939 472
Distance: 9.4 miles Ascent: 1,620 feet
Time: 5.25 hours
Weather: A beautiful sunny day
Comments: 6 walkers set out from above Elslack, the day was sunny and the views far reaching. We ascended following the Pennine Way to our first stop and vantage point of Pinhaw Beacon. Continuing on we passed the area of Robert Wilsons Grave choosing to investigate it further on our return. We travelled out onto Baby House Lane following our route to a coffee stop with views over Cowling Hill. Maintaining a good pace we reached our lunch stop at a river crossing on Lane Ends Bridge. Commencing the return leg heading towards Lothersdale village we took an afternoon tea break in the village. A steep climb back up from the village was our final approach to the point of Robert Wilsons Grave and then back to the lay-by via Pinhaw Beacon. (We never found the Grave)
