Walk: Grasmere, Easedale Tarn and Silver How
Start Point: Walthwaite Bottom, Elterwater Grid Reference: NY 329 051
Distance: 11.5 miles Ascent: 3,140 feet
Time: 6.5 hours
Weather: Little wind and clear skies becoming cloudy with the promise of rain.
Comments: From the car park we headed up the road for a short climb up Huntingstile Crags and Spedding Crags. Walking below the face of Silver How, we descended into Grasmere for our mid-morning break. Taking the tourist route along Easedale road we headed for the easy climb past Sourmilk waterfall and Easedale Tarn. Continuing on and upwards we climbed past Eagle Crags for a well deserved lunch stop with views over Easedale Tarn. Once the ridge had been reached we headed east following the ridge back to Elterwater.
