Walk: Lancaster canal and several farms
Start Point: The Wheatsheaf, Garstang Grid Reference: SD 491 453
Distance: 5.6 miles Ascent: 500 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Warm & sunny with occasional light breeze
Comments: 37 walkers set off in sunshine to walk about a mile south along the Lancaster Canal, before turning inland to cross fields & past farms to gradually climb to Strickens Lane. Here we took a short break with good views of the Fylde Coast. Then it was downhill to Healds Farm & Wood, Clarkson’s & Parkhead Farms before eventually joining the course of the disused railway line & along the river back to our start point.
