|Walk:||Stickle Tarn, Easedale Tarn, Greenup Edge, High Raise, Thunacar Knott, Langdale Combe, Mickleden Valley|
|Start Point:||Old Dungeon Ghyll||Grid Reference:||NY 286 061|
|Distance:||12.5 miles||Ascent:||4,100 feet|
|Weather:||The promise by the weather report of heavy showers did not materialise so we had warm sunshine most of the day with only the threat of rain twice.|
|Comments:||Our route took us towards Thorn Crag before turning right for Stickle Tarn. From here we coursed our way up the hillside to the ridge leading to Sergeant Man where we then commenced our descent to Easedale Tarn. (This is a rocky descent which has to be taken with caution). Crossing Sourmilk Gill we headed for Stythwaite steps before turning NW and walking up Far Easedale to Greenup Edge. Turning left again and in an almost Southerly direct we completed our climbing for the day by heading for High Raise. Our last leg of discovery was then on to Thunacar Knott. Feeling suitably tired our walk was completed by turning right for the descent past Langdale Combe into Mickleden valley. This was a hard walk but enjoyed by all, I hope.
My apologise to Les for stating the start as the New Dungeon Ghyll but with a grid ref for the Old Dungeon Ghyll where we started from.
