Walk: Meadow Head, Water, Spring Gardens, Shepherd Clough, Clough Head, Lower and Higher Sunnyfield, Deerplay, Quebec Farm, Rossendale Way, Compston’s Cross, Clowbridge Reservoir
Start Point: Clowbridge Reservoir car park Grid Reference: SD 823 280
Distance: 9 miles Ascent: 1,150 feet
Time: 5 hours
Weather: Strong winds throughout the walk with driving rain and hail after leaving Water. A thorough testing for waterproofing! Temperature barely rose above 4 with significant wind chill. (48 hours earlier we had temperatures nearer 20!)
Comments: 18 walkers. Given the adverse weather on the day, we were fortunate with conditions underfoot as the previous week had been dry. Not a good day for photographs! It had been intended to follow the Rossendale Way off  Bacup Old Road, down Harrow Stiles Lane and through Harrows Hill Farm. However on the reccie we found that the path that once went through the farmyard has now been diverted around the edge of the farm through a field which was a sea of mud, sourced by an overflowing midden.
