Walk: Wyre Estuary Country Park, Stanah & Wyre Way
Start Point: Thornton Lodge, Skippool Grid Reference: SD 354 406
Distance: 4.8 miles Ascent: 50 feet
Time: 2.5 hours
Weather: Dry, cold and windy with some sun
Comments: Despite the poor weather forecast, 22 walkers left the pub car park to walk firstly along the river then across fields & along lanes to reach the picnic site at the Country Park where we took a break. We returned in sunshine, along the river on the Wyre Way to a very windy car park & good pub lunch.

Low tide at Skippool Creek

Skippool Creek joins the River Wyre

Turn left here for Thornton Hall

Keep to the straight and narrow

Tea break over ---

but unlucky for some at the closed cafe

Wardley's Pool on the opposite side of the River Wyre

On a very windy Wyre Way

Can you hear the high wind whistling through the masts
