Walk: New Barns Bay, Arnside Park, Far Arnside, Heathwaite, Arnside Knott, Red Hills
Start Point: Ye Olde Fighting Cock, Arnside Grid Reference: SD 456 789
Distance: 5.1 miles Ascent: 640 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Hot and sunny
Comments:

On the hottest day of the year so far, 16 people set off carrying plenty of water along the shore to New Barns bay. We were then in the shade for a undulating walk through the woods of Arnside Park for about a mile before our break at Far Arnside. A climb up Heathwaite, which was partly shaded, led to more woods as we walked around Arnside Knott. Whilst crossing Red Hills in the sun we saw lots of orchids & other wild flowers before entering yet more woods on our way back towards Arnside & our lunch. All in all a good walk for a hot sunny day.
