Walk: Throstle Nest Farm, Grize Dale, Ghyll Wood
Start Point: The Barn, Scorton Grid Reference: SD 502 488
Distance: 6 miles Ascent: 800 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Sunny intervals and dry, pleasant for time of year
Comments:

Arriving at the venue the group witnessed numerous police cars and helicopter in the area, allegedly searching for an armed robber.  Today the back marker was called upon to lead the walk instead.  He did a fine job escorting at least forty people around the six mile route.  Early in the walk the group crossed the west coast railway and M6 Motorway to reach the peace and quiet of Grize Dale.  Passing through woodland and open farmland the group were able to observe the changing autumn colours with views of the nearby Harris End, the distant Morecambe Bay and Lake District Fells thrown in.  The food at The Barn was excellent.
