Walk: Langden Castle, Fiendsdale Head, Fair Snape Fell, Totridge
Start Point: Dunsop Bridge Village Car Park Grid Reference: NY 663 501
Distance: 14.5 miles Ascent: 1,500 feet
Time: 7 hours
Weather: Dry, unny, clear blue skies, slightly chilly breeze on the tops
Comments: A small group of 4 regulars and Paul from Clitheroe joined with the leader for today’s walk” The Langden Round”. Leader was relieved that the weather conditions were excellent for tackling this walk up in the boggy fells above Dunsop Bridge and also the crossing of Langden Brook at Fiendsdale water would be achievable unlike a previous walk in this area ……. Our route followed Langden Brook upstream passing the former Preston Water Works and on into the valley below Sykes Fell. We stopped briefly at Langden Castle where we joined for breakfast by a friendly pheasant. The crossing of the Brook at Fiendsdale was managed with ease and we then started our ascent to the fell tops. The track to Fair Snape was challenging in places lots of wet peaty bogs……. Lunch at the newly rebuilt shelter by Paddys Pole and then on to Totridge following a faint track over the peat bogs.  Our route back took us off Totridge and down to Hareden Farm to rejoin the road back to Dunsop Bridge.
