Cuerden Valley Park straddles the River Lostock and is approximately two miles in length.  It is bounded by the M65 Motorway to the north, the M6 on the west with the M61 nearby on the eastside.  The park offers numerous paths some level and some undulating.  Many wild flowers of the season were in bloom including “May Flowers”.  It is also the habitat for herons.  Fifteen persons took part in the walk, three between eight and twelve years of age.  Although motorway traffic could be heard at the north end, other parts of the park offered peace and quiet.  A Visitors Centre is due to open later in the year
