|Weather:||A dull wet day with low cloud and mist, Raining throughout the walk.|
|Comments:||12 walkers set out from the Longridge Golf Club Car Park expecting the rain to break but unfortunately this was never going to be the case. We climbed the roadway steadily up to Jeffrey Hill before taking the footpath leading towards Longridge Fell, but there were no views to take in due to the continuous mist and fog. Once we were nearing the top we followed the walled path, still covered in ice following the week's snow. We maintained a steady cautious pace to reach Spires Gate the highest point on the walk. Turning southwards through the wooded plantation we dropped down to meet the entrance to Lennox Farm and continued on to the road junction at Clitheroe Road. Turning right we made our way to the New Drop public house where we took a welcome coffee break outdoors still sheltering from the rain. From the New Drop we set our pace to continue on Clitheroe Road heading for Dilworth Upper Reservoir where we turned and took the Forty Acre Lane route uphill back to the start point at Longridge Golf Club. After a welcome shower and change we joined the awaiting 16 Fylde members in the Clubhouse for a well earned drink and celebration Christmas meal.|
After a wet and misty walk . . .
we enjoyed the bright and dry restaurant . . .
at Longridge golf club . . .
where the fours and twos joined together . . .
along with our previous Chairman, Garry . . .
and wish everyone a Merry Christmas
Typically, by the time we leave the mist has gone and we can see the lights around Preston
