Walk: Saddle End Farm, Burnslack Farm, Chipping Lawn Farm and Chipping
Start Point: Chipping Car Park Grid Reference: SD 622 433
Distance: 5.4 miles Ascent: 500 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Dry, overcast but not too cold
Comments: The Genial leader (well that’s what he said he was) led the group by a long ascending lane to Saddle End Farm before joining a track that offered views of Bowland with Leagram, Longridge Fell and Pendle Hill.  The end of the track gave way to an Access Area containing Saddle Fell and Burnslack Fell.  By this time most of the uphill walking was out of the way.  Passing through the former Burnslack Farm the group gradually descended before heading over tracks to Chipping Lawn Farm where sheep milk cheese is produced.  After browsing the products on sale there, the group continued in to Chipping Village and the car park. This being the Christmas Meal Walk the group departed by car to Ferraries Restaurant which was nearby.  On arrival, there was lots of fumbling in cars as the group changed into their Glad Rags for the enjoyable Christmas meal.  The seventeen walkers were joined by another forty or so retired members and much catching up of news took place.  Thanks to the leader and organiser of the meal.

A tasty cheese with a bit of a kick in it
