Walk: Whalley Banks, Bowley Hill, Dean Clough Reservoir, Whittle Hall
Start Point: Whalley Abbey Grid Reference: SD 732 362
Distance: 9 miles Ascent: 300 feet
Time: 5 hours
Weather: A dry start, strong winds and snow for the rest of the day
Comments:

11walkers set out from the roadside parking at Whalley Abbey. We continued out of the town past the weir on the River Calder, then a steady climb out onto Whalley Banks and the woodland pathway of Heys Farm and our coffee stop. We continued on up to Bowley Hill eventually reaching the Northern end of Dean Clough reservoir. Following the length of Dean Clough we started our turn for home at the end of the reservoir but not before a lunch stop with shelter against a wind resistant stone wall. Starting our route back via Whittle Hall we followed a good downhill roadway before turning again across farmland with a heading to the Viaducts and our pathway back to Whalley Abbey. A snowfall with continuous high winds did not allow the greatest views today but a good 9 miler.
