Walk: Arant Haw, Rowantree Grains Fold, Calders, Bram Rigg Top, The Calf, White Fell Head, Bush Howe, Breaks Head, Wind Scarth and Long Rigg Fold.
Start Point: Sedbergh Grid Reference: SD 655 923
Distance: 11 miles Ascent: 3,200 feet
Time: 5.5 hours
Weather: Sunny and warm with a light wind
Comments:

No Wainwrights of-course, but the walk did provide us with 360 degree views compared to the previous Sunday where the tops had been shrouded in mist. I had been unable to do a complete recce so the ridge walk from the Calf was, in itself, a recce and all went well. Our tricky descent down to Long Rigg Fold had not been my intended route but all made the descent successfully.
Our last obstacle was the crossing of Chapel Beck where disaster fell upon us with one of the group slipping and breaking two bones in her arm.
Cutting the walk short allowed our casualty to attend hospital for treatment.

Kath leads the way, obviously raring to go

A long way from home, in this case Hull and asking where to go

With temperatures rising its soon time to disrobe

Climbing to Arant Haw with Sedbergh in the valley bottom

Arant Haw. This photo would not have been possible last week
as all the tops were covered by a thick mist

Still climbing and it’s almost time for a break

With most of the hard climbing out of the way we had a mid morning break
whilst sheltering from the cool breeze

The Calf and surprisingly few people about

Looking roughly north with the rolling hills of the Howgills in full display

I thought, incorrectly, that this was Fell Head but it is simply marked on the O.S. map as cairn

Having made our descent we had our lunch at Long Rigg Fold. Shortly after this picture
was taken, one of our group broke her arm and the walk was cut short
