Distance: 4.25 miles Ascent: Little
Time: 2.5 hours

Comments:

Seven persons ambled along on the north and south of the River Ribble.  First, crossing the River Ribble via the Old Penwortham Bridge the group followed the Ribble upstream to the Old Tram Road.  From here they followed the Old Tram Road to Factory Lane and then followed a path alongside a Sewerage Works (no smell) to the River Darwen and followed it to the Ribble.  Crossing the Ribble via the Old Tram Bridge they then skirted the top of Avenham and Miller Parks before returning past the Continental Hotel to the start point.
