Walk: Cat Bells, Maiden Moor, High Spy, Rigghead Quarries, Castle Crag and shores of Derwent Water.
Start Point: Hawse End Grid Reference: NY 247 213
Distance: 12 miles Ascent: 3,100 feet
Time: 6.5 hours
Weather: A warm dry day but with cool winds on the ridges.

Leaving our car park at Hawes End, we made steady progress up the ridge to High Spy taking in Cat Bells and Maiden Moor on route. At Wilsons Bield we turned due east to descend to the Rigghead Quarries and lunch. Continuing down we eventually reached the Allerdale Ramble path which lead us to Castle Crag (no memorial service today). Followed by paths via the lake shore, Brandelhow Park and the outdoor centre to complete the walk.
