Walk: Ashton Park, Lancaster Canal and Haslam Park
Start Point: Lockside Road, Docklands Grid Reference: SD 505 294
Distance: 5.5 miles Ascent: Little
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Dry but cool (12 degrees -24 for the London Marathon)
Comments: After a delayed start the eventual group of ten made their way from Preston Docklands across Ashton Park to cross the Millennium Link to reach the UCLAN Sports Complex. Unfortunately the café beside the canal at thecomplex appeared to have closed down.  After a break and use of the facilities at UCLAN the group joined the Lancaster Canal to walk to Haslam Park and then to Preston Docklands via Ashton Park. On the outward journey use was made of a path over a Lock Gate, on the return the gate was open to allow the high tide to replenish the water level in the docks. Unfortunately, a couple of people were unable to cross the Lock Gate to return to their car and had to be taken around by a good Samaritan
