Walk: Farleton Fell, Farleton Knott, Newbiggin Crags, Clawthorpe Fell, Curwen Woods
Start Point: North Road, Holme Grid Reference: SD 527 797
Distance: 8.5 miles Ascent: 950 feet
Time: 5 hours
Weather: A wet morning with heavy rain, cleared by midday with sunshine in the afternoon.

16 walkers set out from the North Road and joined the Lancaster canal towpath heading towards the bridge crossing of the M6 Motorway. A short road walk took us to the base of Farleton Fell where we stopped for coffee at Marsden Farm. A long climb was ahead of us with a narrow footpath twisting and turning between all the Gorse now in bloom. We passed by Farleton Knott and selected a shelter between rocks for our lunch stop. It was then down hill after lunch, negotiating Newbiggin Crags to make our way through all the limestone outcrops. Walking down to a short roadway passing Clawthorpe Fell and on into Curwen Woods the day was now clear of rain with bright sunshine giving us clear views over Silverdale and through to Grange Over Sands. Once through Curwen Woods it was back to crossing the M6 Motorway. Once over a right turn onto the Lancaster Canal towpath took us back to our start point. A good day’s walking.
