Walk: Levens Bridge, Levens Hall, St John’s Church Helsington, Brigsteer Park
Start Point: Levens Bridge, Lay By on old A6 Grid Reference: SD 496 853
Distance: 10 miles Ascent: 1,000 feet
Time: 5.5 hours
Weather: A bright sunny morning but a cold easterly wind. Sunshine in the afternoon.

12 walkers set out from the Old A6 lay-by north east of Levens Bridge. We crossed the bridge and turned left into Deer Park and climbed Archers Hill. Our route took us along the river Kent over a footbridge and on to Hawes Bridge for coffee. After a short road walk we set out across farmland footpaths to reach Briggs House Farm and a lunch stop. Following lunch we continued our route to St John’s Church Helsington where we had great views into the Lake District and an outline of the Fells. We continued on downhill to reach Brigsteer Park, a wooded plantation, and a great show of Bluebells. The next phase was to pass through Cinderbarrow and on to Levens where we exited the village onto farmland paths. Another climb took us across a bridge over the A590 and then onto a pathway taking us back to the lay-by car park. A great day's walking
