Walk: Pennine Way, Sell Gill Hole, Jackdaw Hole, Calf Holes, Dales Way, Ribble Way
Start Point: Horton in Ribblesdale Grid Reference: SD 808 726
Distance: 14 miles Ascent: 2,000 feet
Time: 6 hours
Weather: A dry day with occasional bursts of sunshine and very good visibility.

Six walkers joined the leader for this walk in the Yorkshire Dales. The walk initially follows Harber Scar Lane which is jointly the Pennine and Ribble ways. The area around here has many limestone fissures, and we paused to check out the Sell Gill Holes, the Jackdaw Hole and the Calf Holes. At Sell Gill the two paths separate and we continued on the Pennine Way, passing the gorge of Ling Gill to Cam End, where we joined the Dales Way. This short stretch of the Dales Way follows the course of an old Roman Road and crosses Gayle Beck, which is the beginning of the River Ribble. At Gearstones we left the Dales Way, and joined the Ribble Way back to Sell Gill passing through some impressive limestone scenery.  On reaching Sell Gill, we left the Ribble Way and followed a series of field paths to New Houses where we joined the minor road back to Horton in Ribblesdale.
