Walk: Dodd, Dodd Wood Cafe, Ling How+Kiln Pots+The Edge for Ullock Pike, Longside Edge and Carl Side
Start Point: Roadside parking by Millbeck Farm Grid Reference: NY 254 263
Distance: 10.5 miles Ascent: 3,900 feet
Time: 6 hours
Weather: A warm day with no breeze until reaching the higher altitudes, A mainly cloudy day with the tops in hazy mist.

With just Ray & Robb the walk climbed through the remnants of Thornthwaite Forest for Dodd with good views over Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite Lake and their surrounding tops.
With forest paths closed for tree felling, we descended to Dodd Wood parking area for a path towards Ravenstone Hotel. Here we had a stiff ascent to Ling How before the ascent to Ullock Pike, Longside Edge, Carl Side and with hang-gliders for company.
All that remained was to drop down to Thornthwaite Forest for a return to the car.

Having parked up, our view was looking towards Borrowdale (Keswick left & Cat Bells right).

Where a tree should not grow, on rock.

Devastation in part of Thornthwaite Forest.

Dodd, our first Wainwright of the day. Basenthwaite lake is in the distance.

Looking across the valley towards Barf, Grisedale Pike & Hopegill Head etc.

What have we here?

Mushrooms or are they toadstools?

Are we nearly there yet? This was part of our steep climb
up to Ling How and the ridge to the tops.

The ridge climb . . .

accompanied by . . .

Ullock Pike, our second Wainwright with Binsey in the background.

Our third Wainwright, Longside (Edge) with Skiddaw standing proud behind.

The ridge route up.

Last but not least, Carl Side, the last Wainwright of the day.

Descending back to Thornthwaite Forest gave us a birds eye view
of Dodd with Bassenthwaite Lake just showing on the right.
