Walk: Worden Park, Altcar Farm, Runshaw Moor and return to Worden Park
Start Point: Worden Park, Leyland Grid Reference: SD 542 212
Distance: 5 hours Ascent: 60 feet
Time: 2.5 hours
Weather: White cloud and not too cold for March

The leader was very considerate and used quiet lanes and tracks to avoid muddy fields.  Following the northern periphery of Worden Park to exit on to Leyland Lane the route then turned into Altcar Lane to continue along Tithe Barn Lane to Runshaw Lane.  The group of nine ladies and one man then returned via Runshaw Hall Lane to re-enter Worden Park on its East side.  Following the line of Shaw Brook for a while the group then entered Worden Park proper to return to the car park.  On the site of the former Worden Hall, which was owned by the Farington family, is a craft centre and café.  Worden Park was first opened to the public in 1951. For those that like big boys toys, there is a miniature rail network with steam and diesel trains.  Unfortunately the group arrived back too late for the last train.  Another good walk.

The leader relates information about the walk

Crossing a recently erected bridge on the periphery of Worden Park

Exiting Worden Park on the outward leg of the walk

Worden Folly Arch spanning Shaw Brook

Now you see me - now you don't

An abundance of snow drops near to the site of the former Worden Hall
