Distance: 9 miles Ascent: 830 feet
Time: 5 hours
Weather: Warm sunshine from start to finish. No wind in the morning but a breeze picked up in the afternoon.

12 walkers. Great views from Cross Fell to 9 Standards; the Howgills to High Street, Kidsty and Blencathra. No other walkers seen on a Bank Holiday Sunday. Lambs, skylarks, curlew, marsh marigolds, primroses, violets and cowslips. (Most if not all seen outside the Asby Scar National Nature Reserve!)
