Walk: Middleforth, Leigh Brow Bridge, Walton Park, River Ribble Middleforth
Start Point: The Pear Tree Inn, Penwortham Grid Reference: SD 534 273
Distance: 5.4 miles Ascent: 328 feet
Time: 2.75 hours
Weather: Overcast with a cool breeze

Thirty-five persons, including three from a Special Needs & Disability Group, took part in the walk.  Four children also took part.  The route was by the way of old railway tracks, an old tram road and riverside paths.  All the paths were hard surfaced and most had a covering of Autumn leaves.  Things of interest were pointed out by the leader (known as the boring bits). The paths passed through a nature reserve and this offered glimpses of various autumn tints.  Four people took part in a three mile walk in the same area.  A similar walk on the previous Sunday, in the same locality, attracted nine walkers. The food at The Pear Tree was good and served quite quickly in view of the numbers
