Walk: Windy Harbour Farm, Jamestone Quarry, Clough Head Quarry Café, Rothwell Fold, Calf Hey Reservoir, Ogden Reservoir and Holden Wood Reservoir
Start Point: Holden Arms, Grane Road, Haslingden Grid Reference: SD 776 226
Distance: 5.3 miles Ascent: 850 feet
Time: 3 hours
Weather: Rain then sun then damp with a light breeze (Mist on Grane Road prior to the walk)
Comments:

The walk took place in the Rossendale Valley in East Lancashire.  It started by ascending a steep gradient and then levelling out above Jamestone Quarry on the West Pennine Way/Rossendale Way, before descending to Clough Head Quarry Café.  Prior to the Café a group from Sandbach, Cheshire stopped for a chat.  They said that they didn’t have a visa to enter Lancashire but asked where could they obtain a book of Lancashire Dialect.  Crossing Grane Road the route then crossed the dam of Calf Hey Reservoir to rise approximately a hundred feet to re-join the Rossendale Way going East.  After an elevated walk above Ogden Reservoir the path descended to the level of Holden Wood Reservoir.  From there it was a short walk to the Holden Arms for lunch.  Twenty-three persons took part in the main walk with a further five doing a shorter and easier route.  Although there was a little rain at the start the sun managed to make an appearance before it clouded over again.
