Walk: Back O’ Bowley, Berry’s Lane, Whalley Banks, Squires Farm and Memorial Park, Gt Harwood
Start Point: Dog & Otter, Gt Harwood Grid Reference: SD 730 330
Distance: 4.6 miles Ascent: 850 feet
Time: 2.5 hours
Weather: A dry start with a sprinkling of rain around midday. Very windy (Storm Ali)

Yet again there were two walks. One of about three miles to Dean Clough Reservoir and a longer walk with many inclines for the fitter members.  Seventeen members took part in the main walk with four people, (Jane and “Followers”) on the shorter walk.  The main walk passed along Dean Lane and Bowley Scout Camp to reach higher ground that opened up to give views of Whalley below.  The return route was via Whalley Banks, Squires Farm and Memorial Park at Great Harwood.  Although there were one or two inclines that increased one’s heart rate it was worth the effort to view some of Lancashire’s fine scenery.  The owners of the Dog & Otter did the group proud with good food, quick service and reasonable prices. For example, £10 for two main meals.
