Walk: Sizergh Castle, Scout Scar,  Helsington Escarpment, River Kent.
Start Point: Sizergh Castle Car Park Grid Reference: SD 498 878
Distance: 9.5 miles Ascent: 750 ft
Time: 5 hours
Weather: Sunny day all the way.

8 walkers set out from the car park heading along a clear footpath towards Brigsteer Park. We continued our way  past Holeslack Farm arriving at Helsington Church and some views across to Arnside and Silverdale. Onto the Escarpment and a climb along the edge of Scout Scar, we eventually made our coffee stop at the mushroom viewing platform. Crossing the open land of Bradleyfield we made our way to Lane Head and then onto Helsington Laithes. Crossing the A591 we followed a path leading down to the River Kent and the edge of Sroggs Wood where we stopped for lunch. Our route back was following the River Kent to take a bridge crossing into Lower Sizergh, out of the village we passed under the A591 and onto the access road to Sizergh Castle and the car park where we started out. A good days walking with some splendid views, thanks to Christine.
