Comments:

11 walkers set out from the car park and left onto a short road stretch passing the Old Berrys Chair Works. Turning right over a stile we headed uphill following the line of Dobsons Brook. On to Birchen Lee we followed the signs for Park Gate and our destination for coffee on the outskirts of Stanley which were the stepping stones crossing Dobsons Brook. After coffee we took a downhill stretch to a point at Lickhurst Farm. Passing the farm buildings we completed a road section passing a now disused red phone box situated on the boundary of the Whitewell Estate. Turning right we passed the refurbished properties around the Higher Greystoneley barns and took a footpath descent down to a river crossing where we stopped for lunch. On up to Lower Greystoneley we took a footpath heading for Knott Hill and eventually Leagram Mill. Crossing the road we took a stile into farmland footpaths making our way to Greenlands Farm. Passing through the farm buildings it was again footpaths and stiles to reach Gibbon Bridge Hotel. Passing to the left of the hotel buildings it was into field paths with a route marked to Pale Farm and after several stile crossings we reached the edge of the Cricket field of Chipping. It was then a short stretch of roadway into the village and our car park start point. A great day's walking.
