RAMBLERS AND FOOTPATHS - A HAPPY PARTNERSHIP

PHASE ONE

One of the objectives of the Ramblers Association is that every group should be involved in some way in footpath maintenance. 54% of groups nationally already do this and the Fylde Ramblers Committee have been aware that we are late coming to the party, in an active capacity.

Fylde footpaths are largely well-maintained, so it was fortuitous that one of our members could offer suggestions for linking with our Countryside Ranger service, bringing us into contact with Wyre Council and subsequently developing a pilot strategy for the summer of 2016, April to October.

PHASE TWO

Towards the latter end of 2016 we added an extra avenue to our footpath work. Under John Leyland's instigation a small group met with David Goode at LCC to discuss how we could work with them to impact on the long list of specific complaints that they held for local footpaths. Following further discussions a plan of action was formulated and it is now time to put this into action.

Please click on the link below to find out how the work with LCC is progressing and how we will be moving on with the Countryside Ranger Service.
